Response to a Digital Portrait: "Dylan"
Technology from an early age. This is why our students are so into technology. Dylan was using technology at 4! Technology gets credit for teaching him phonics. Technology is good! Dylan brings this statement to life. From learning how to read to using online forums to bring awareness to animal cruelty or going green as a lifestyle not just a choice, technology can do so much good when applied appropriately. Collaboration comes up in this portrait as well. No longer do group projects became cumbersome. Students, at all levels, can collaborate from their own homes. "Think globally and act globally," we have come a long way in the last few decades.

I think we said just about the same thing on all five of these kids: They clearly have a great deal of parent support, school support, and the resources to reach where they are. I'm sure they clearly have some prodigy like potential in them, but I wonder what videos would look like if they were posted by kids who have no parental support or stability, no support from teachers or administration, and next to zero for resources. What would that look like? Anyone ever seen something like this (tough to do because of the support which would be needed to even get something like this off the ground). Maybe these are the kids who film the schoolyard fight s and put them on Youtube...
